Long Live the Queen is Dead Ver. 2.0 by Coinin Long Live the Queen is Dead Ver. 2.0 by Coinin
Created with the same concept in mind as my painting; Long Live the Queen is Dead. The idea is a personification or Queen of Death, someone neither really dead or alive and sort of human, or had once been human, but not quite anymore. This is a character I've had rattling around in my head for some time, so she tends to pop up in different ways in my work.

Part of her design, specifically the skull used for the upper half of her face, is inspired by Norse Mythology. In particular, the character Hel, who rules Hekla which is the Nordic Hell and where we got the word from. In the myths, she's half living flesh and half necrotized and skeletal. I'm obviously taking liberties here.
